I liked the first 2 books in this series but now feel like that this series is becoming eerily similar to the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series by Sarah J Maas. Stolas is totally the bad boy who is secretly good and riddled with self hate and guilt and has beautiful wings that are described to death. Remind you of anyone? Yep, he’s totally the Rhys of this series. And Archeron is the first love who couldn’t accept Haven as she was and therefore isn’t the right man for her. Despite all of this, I feel like Stolas was done much better as a character than Rhys and is not as cringe. But who knows? That might change later on in the series. What really bothered me in this series was too many inconsistencies and things that made no sense. Like why does Stolas refer to Ravenna as his wife and then gets mad several times at Haven for calling her as such. And he claims he never calls her his wife. How does no one recognize Haven and that Bell has no magic when they are much more experienced in magic and maturity? The revelation at the end was very confusing also and then the confession Stolas makes to Haven about having met her before even in the forest when she was younger and how he watched her all these years. That is not romantic at all. She was a young child and he comes back to her life when she is a young woman and all of sudden they have romantic interest in one another. I am sorry but that is not romantic at all and is rather creepy. How much older are Stolas and Archeron than Haven exactly? Haven is what only 18? I don’t think adding in this detail really added anything to the story and leaving them to having only met in the forest was better than the story about her being let go as a child from the Netherworld by the Lord of the Netherworld himself. Otherwise, this series is still good and I will continue it but I feel like with some edits and different storytelling, this series could have been exceptionally brilliant.
