It's big! I initially bought it because I don't like reading on a time limit like libraries make you do. I read this in little under a month of casual day to day perusing. The story moves at a good pace and the chapters are short so it's rewarding to continue and you don't burn out. I've burned out of other books of his ('if it bleeds' and 'it') because of how hard it can be to find a stopping point and REMEMBER previous info. But this has aged beautifully.

Cons: Lots of sex. I mean it. After reading you're most likely to think "Oh that wasn't so bad there's only three scenes" but you're WRONG and your forgetting because it's the biggest hurdle in reading it is the sprinkles of sex in almost every 3 chapters. Be ready is all.
Also heavy vulgar language usage. Just if you're not into that.

I don't think the themes are too complex, and honestly, as a Christian who's lived through a pandemic, I don't think the themes were too offensive. I think the books is a good testament that the metaphorical name can absolutely suck but the book is good so who cares I'd it's 'the stand' or "buttgrease on a friday?"
