"Working Stiff" was a very interesting and enjoyable book, especially considering the topic. I found it very readable (as a lay person), and actually quite riveting. Some of her stories as a neophyte medical examiner were entertaining. Her account of the 9/11 aftermath added significantly to my understanding of the tragedy. It is written so that anyone who enjoys today's CSI, Quincy, Rizzoli & Isles, Body of Proof, etc. genre of TV will definitely enjoy it, and will also see the real side of the M.E.'s job, her relationship with detectives and relatives, her relationship with senior M.E.s and those with unique specialties, and following up on her hunches.
