I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a hot, fun second chance romance full of drama, humor, suspense, and sexy times! The characters were likeable and the story was well-paced and engaging. I liked the twist thrown in with Asher’s family and emotions it invoked from him and his heartfelt conversation with his mom. His mom and sister, and even his commander, being thrown into the mix gave the story an additional depth and a light tug at the heartstrings. The girl-to-girl chat between Gracie and Brooke was sweet and showed the perfect amount of sisterly love and protectiveness towards her brother. I also enjoyed watching Asher grow emotionally after finding out some hard truths about his family and work thru his problems in an adult manner, with a level head. As a couple, Asher and Brooke had a lot of ups and downs, both scared to try again, not wanting a repeat of the past. They had some soul searching to do and a lot of emotions to sort out to find their HEA. Overall, Bourbon Neat was a great story that will keep you entertained from beginning to end.

Asher Dillon was on leave and has reluctantly joined his family on their trip to the Midnight Bay Beach Resort in Turks and Caicos. His mom and younger sister had planned out their vacation and there was no way he was letting them go alone. Being a Navy SEAL he has seen too many horrors of what could happen, so here he was tagging along and trying to find decent bourbon and wish he was elsewhere while they enjoyed their fun in the sun. While lost in his own musings he witnesses an altercation with a young woman and a group of drunken frat guys who will not take no for an answer so he decides to step in and shut them down for good. While defusing the situation he is stunned to find the woman who has been haunting his dreams for the past 8 years. If there ever was one that got away, it was her…Brooke Ramsey and here she stood now in front of him. He has never forgotten the time they spent together or the smoking hot chemistry they shared and by the look in her eyes, neither has she. Maybe he will enjoy his vacation after all. He has his work cut out for him, the hurt is deep, but if he can gain her forgiveness, maybe this time he can win her heart.

For Brooke Ramsey, she has worked hard to get where she is. She has landed a new account for her advertising firm at the Midnight Bay Beach Resort in Turks and Caicos and is there to experience the resort first hand so she can create some fabulous marketing material and solidify her future with her firm. Dodging drunken guests who will not take no for an answer was never in her plans. Neither was seeing the one man that could still make her pulse race and knees weak and bring all her past dreams and fantasies come rushing back. Yet here he stood in front of her with his cocky smile and bulging muscles and alpha attitude pretending to be her boyfriend to get her out of a jam. Shock and anger wage ware within her and past feelings come rushing back like lightning. Their fling 8 years ago had not been just fun and games; feelings got involved and dreams were formed and his leaving without a trace left a deep-rooted hurt that could not easily be erased. With the ruse in place, they are forced to face the past that has haunted them both. This time she is determined to keep her heart and emotions in check. However, getting to know ‘the man’ Asher now versus ‘the boy’ Asher from then could prove more lethal. She must decide if this time around they are worth fighting for or else end it before the past repeats itself because she knows this time she will not recover from the loss.
