How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsA history of statistics
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 9, 2022
This book is mostly a brief history of statistics. It gives a high overview of where some statistical methods came from. It doesn’t go into detail about them. Notably, one of the most important topics in statistics, population estimation, if given only about two pages of discussion.

Its good with the picture but its not what my expectation with the graphic guide. Could be better if we refer to the title.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Strongly Disagree With the Previous Reviewers

This book is exactly what it says it is, an introduction to statistics. It is meant to attract people to the field rather than drive them away. It is a great review of the history, philosophy, and purpose of statistics, the development of the various statistical concepts and how they relate to real-life problems. I loved the historical parts dealing with the women and men behind the science Given how pervasive and ubiquitous statistics have become in fields of study, work and even play, this book should be a required reading to any novice statistician or anyone whose life and/or work are touched by this very important field. A next great stop would be a book called "The Lady Tasting Tea" by David Salsburg and "The Unfinished Game" by Devlin. If you want to read more I recommend "The Theory that Wouldn't Die" by McGrayne.

Would have appreciated more explanati

As a person with very little background in statistics I found this book to be very informative, mathematically educational, and enjoyable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misses all targets for readers
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 7, 2023
This book does not teach statistics or common experimental procedures or even an understanding of models.
This book does provide an historical view of the work and innovations of various statisticians, but not in sufficient detail to understand their work or innovations beyond the names and labels of some aspects of what they worked on.

The reader will be left with a list of names (Pearson, Fisher and others) as well as a list of methods (factor analysis, ANOVA) in an unorganized fashion and with no understanding of the insights behind the methods, pragmatics of deploying the methods, or even reasonable drawings or graphics. It is as if someone created a timeline of key moments of statistics with one sentence summaries, then scrambled the order of those key moments, and then simply read out the one sentence summaries.

Very little entertainment or humor (unless random distortions of old drawings and illegible graphs are meant to inspire laughter); very little teaching on how to do statistics or how to be cautious of statistical misuse or to have a rich model of the different types of methods that are applicable today.

I’m not sure of any productive or educational value (introductory or otherwise) provided by this book.

Note: I am comfortable with mathematics and dabble with statistics but not in any professional capacity. I appreciate good technical and non-technical introductions to various subjects. This book is simply THE worst introductory text I have ever read on statistics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Summary of statistics in 3 hour

To comprehend this book well, one might be familiar with the statistical terms. This book has a timeline of statisticians and their contributions, how they developed related distribution appropriate to certain circumstances.

I learnt different other kinds of distribution and how they are different from each other. It's a good book, I will recommend it to a freshman year
