Unique way to use a well-known trope: fake marriage. But SHE doesn’t know it’s not real!
January 2, 2020
Leave it to Ms. Snow to find a unique way to get the “fake marriage” trope started. Problem is, this time the female lead doesn’t know its fake. Hmmm…
Valerie Gerard wakes up on a strange bed not remembering ANYTHING. After a very weird introduction to two men, one apparently a doctor, she discovers that she has amnesia and the other unknown man is her husband. What?! How could she have forgotten this beautiful hunk of a man?!
Flint aka “Capt McHottie” in Val’s fuzzy brain knows the truth: that she was almost murdered by persons unknown and to keep her safe he must shield her at his state-of-the-art electronically secure home. What happens as her memory slowly comes back but her feelings for her “husband” are hot as he!! Are the killers still out to get Val? What other feelings has this episode triggered?
I couldn’t read this book fast enough, but now that it’s over, what a slump! I want more… The ending will keep you on the edge of your seat until the epilogue. Some of Flint’s internal reprimands are LOL funny. The thing is as a reader, I really cared about these characters. And, Val and Flint’s “first time” was so well-done that I felt like I was watching it;-) Oh. My. Word! Some remarkable phrases from the book: Valerie describing Flint, “a man-sicle on a hot day” or Flint thinking with his man-parts about Val, “what this flint can kindle.” Who can top those declarations? But, there are so many more…
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes HIGHLY recommended for readers who want a steamy, thoughtful, thriller with a beautiful HEA. This one gets 5++ Stars.
