How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

As I prepare to hit 60 and my parents move towards 80, I feel everything in this book. Adding after reading comments that many comments really point out how much homophobia is still rampant because he barely mentions his husband of 14 years and there is no sex at all in the book…

This is one of the best books I've read this year. It is a remarkable read. Funny, poignant, and brutally honest, it takes on the adventure of growing old and the inevitable lessons we are forced to learn. As a 68 year old man, I can honestly say I loved this book and I love Steven Petrow.

I’m going to reread and even maybe memorize this book. Generous, kind, but honest discussion about how to live your final chapters.

4.0 out of 5 stars A reminder for those getting old

Petrow raises a lot of interesting questions that most of us, of a certain age, either hadn’t thought about or hadn’t thought too seriously about. One thing that kept popping into my mind, does he realize that he probably won’t be able address all these issues. He apparently feels he will be alert and living independently until the day he dies. Good luck Steven.

4.0 out of 5 stars So happy I chose this book

Although I did not agree with all sentiments expressed, I enjoyed hearing them all expressed so clearly. I am, according to some of this writing now officially "old" (a woman of 74 years), I still identify with middle age. How's that for denial! I appreciated the humor throughout these electronic pages and recommend this for a not too depressing look at going forward no matter what the number of years say. Thank you Stephen Petrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Prophet For The Maturing Years!

I have always believed in living my life by thinking
10 years ahead of my time, which has served me very well up to now. It’s not unusual for me to ask myself, “Where will I be, what will I be doing and with whom 10 years from now? ” Steven Petrow has the answer (and the secret) for perpetuating and maintaining this philosophy once you start reaching those ‘golden years’.”Where do we go from here?” I especially liked the chapter where he considers where and how he would spend his remaining years so as not to be a burden to his family once he can no longer fend for himself. Only children or those with no remaining family should especially take this subject very seriously. Only the late, great Joan Rivers brought up the subject of how Not to age as an old ‘Fuddy Duddy’ in her book, “Don’t Count The Candles, Just Keep The Fire Lit”. Steven Petrow picks up where Joan Rivers left off, bringing to surface how older people can still live happy, productive, and healthy lives for the rest of their lives in our contemporary world. Old age comes quicker than we think, let’s be prepared to keep living and exit with a bang! As another great comedian, George Burns, noted, “You can’t help getting older, you don’t have to get old.” I Love This Book!

Steven Petrow is the consummate raconteur, giving us pastilles of wisdom, encouragement and support. His advice, cleverly dispensed as what not to do when going through life, i.e., aging, are well done and always timely reminders that living is a messy, happy, sad, uplifting and totally human endeavor. I devoured it and can recommend it as must-read material for any age. There are things and chapters, suggestions and advice that won’t work unless you are rather comfortably off financially and emotionally secure. Don’t let it distract you from reading and embracing the book and its message. Go forth boldly.
