To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I vowed to start any trilogy until it was done, then read reviews to see if it was worth my time to read the books - I am not a young adult, and far more discerning in my reading. This was great, beginning, middle, end, the hallmark of a great trilogy. The characters were unusual, the story captivating and hard to categorize - fantasy, paranormal, science fiction, magic, alternate worlds, but best of all, an interesting plot with developing characters who had quirks you loved, hated, and loved again. Highly recommend!
This series had me on an emotional roller coaster throughout, and on the edge of my seat with anticipation! I'm also not a young adult, like the only other reviewer here so far, but I loved this series more than many adult books I've read. It was actually refreshing that there wasn't bad language or gratuitous sex, like most adult stories. Some plot points were somewhat predictable, but oh man, some you really had no idea were coming and some have you guessing and second guessing what they're leading to. I am not a fan of the excessive use of metaphors and similes, nor was I a fan of some of the choices and statements made by characters at some points, but the story as a whole, the relationships developed, the secrets revealed, and the time spent with the characters all add up to a magical fairytale. I was not looking forward to leaving this fictional world behind at the end of the series, and at many points I was anxious that it would end in a way that left me brokenhearted. However, even the ending of Finale was wrapped up as a beautiful send-off, I felt. Bravo to Ms. Garber.
