This book did not deliver much in the context of Self Help, it was difficult to read because it was to wordy. There were entirely too many references to Lincoln, making me think the author had a Man-Crush on Lincoln. The book offered a few good tips and strategies for becoming a better speaker, but being How to Win Friends and Influence People was a fabulous book, this book was bit of let down. I still recommend reading it, you may just have to skim through some of the references of Christianity and Lincoln.

I love this book. Since I want to improve my public speaking I decided to read this book. But ask the book suggests reading the book only will not improve public speaking. If you truly want to get better you need to apply the principles written in this book. That's why I recommend you to join Toastmasters or any other public speaking organization there you can practice the principles Carnegie wrote in his book. I particularly didn't like this edition of the book because it contained a lot of spelling mistakes. Otherwise the book is excellent.

Even though this book was written long ago, the advice it contains is still relevant and extremely useful. By the time I finished reading it, I had doggy-eared probably half the book! Some parts were a little hard to understand because of the era it was written, but I just kept reading and found it very helpful. Gives concrete examples on how to apply the suggestions! (and there are many, from how to improve your confidence in speaking, to improving your opening and closing, to how to keep your audience interested and more!)

Will keep and read probably 3-4 more times or more in the next few years.

Dale Carnegie's influence on how modern America does business is undeniable. Mastering the art of communication is probably the one of the most (if not the most) valuable asset to success. Given his reputation, Carnegie's take on the subject is a great start for anyone who plans on making public speaking part of their professional repertoire. His basic methodology, although a bit dated (the book was written more than half a century ago), is still applicable to today's business world.

I've taken a couple of public speaking classes and have read a few tomes on the subject. I've found some other, more modern writers to be better resources on the subject, but it doesn't take away from the fact that I still benefitted greatly from this read. The cover advertises "time-tested methods of persuasion" and although I agree that having organized thoughts, clear communication, and enjoyable mannerisms as necessary to state a point effectively, I don't think it guarantees you to be persuasive. The book is a relatively easy read although I found some of the language and examples dated and a few of the parts repeating the same points, making it a little tedious.

I would recommend this book to someone who wants a practical start to effective communicating.

There are two main problems I faced while reading the book, first of all it's vocabulary and secondly the reference weren't relatable at all, made the book boring. (Although reason for this is the fact is that this book is 100 years old..)

But still It is one of the best self improvement book, helped me a lot in improving in public speaking. Basically it gives you great idea on how to write your speech and some great techniques on delivering it. This book will help you get prepared.

But don't expect the that book will do it all for you, it is all the game of CONFIDENCE!! So just be more confident and awaaz me dum hona chahiye.

Nothing is impossible, from a guy whose heart beat increased rapidly when told to talk on public speaking, now I feel pretty excited and would love to speak if given a chance.

There are some important points given in this book on how to prepare yourself for public speaking. But all those points and example could have been put together in 100 pages. Sometimes, its bit boring in between and again getting interesting with new examples. However, its a must read book. Well, I applied the techniques in my presentation and it worked well.
