I felt so sorry for Sully. Her father had raped and beaten her before giving her to one of his club members when she was only 14 years old. At his hands she suffered much worse. She was terrified and unsure because up to this point, Sully’s life had been filled with nothing but abuse causing her to always expect the worse from every situation. She gradually makes progress relaxing and being comfortable with her new family, but for good reason she has a ways to go in making peace with her past.
Marek was a jerk for the first half of the book. He kidnapped Sully in retaliation against the other MC and was aggravated at himself for being attracted to her. He was never abusive to her physically, but because he was confused by his feelings, his reaction was to verbally lash out and oftentimes overreact. The man had some serious jealously issues. Marek redeemed himself in the end, but not before annoying me a couple of times.
Although Marek and Sully are at a good place in their relationship, there are still a lot of problems with the rival MC, issues with a cartel, as well as some unanswered questions about other club members. I will therefore need to continue with the series in order to find out what happens next.
Finally, trigger warning bc this is a dark book and there are some things that are alluded to but expressly addressed that might be disturbing for some people.

The writing just didn't do anything to pull me in or to make me enamoured by the characters or their story. I wasn't gripped by this and I didn't care that it was coming to an end. I also won't be reading the next books this series because agaun the writing failed to make me care about them or their stories. Saying all that, this book was only 0.99p and it is an easy read I guess, even if a bit tedious in parts. There's not too many errors or typos etc. I would maybe read the remaining books if they become available on kindle unlimited, but I definitely would not pay for them.
What I had an issue with was the Hero. Cole Marek should be the very alpha , tough bada$$ President of the KC MC. Unfortunately, he comes across as super controlling and domineering.
There is violence and rape in this book.
HEA? More HFN
Cheating? Yes- he has sex with a club girl when he and Sully are to all intents and purposes together publicly but have not grown physically or emotionally close. He does not remember the 'hook up's ' name and was thinking of Sully the whole time he screwed the random woman.
He's so hurtful and disrespectful to her. Ah one point sleeping with someone else. The sad part is, he doesn't get caught...... yet the way he is because of one of his prospects; help acts like a child.
Despite Marek, the book is well written.. I did enjoy it.
