Words cannot express how much I love this series. The characters are sooo well done, and I am in love with these heroes. It's hard to pick a favorite book so far, but I think Book 4 about Dracchus and Larkin might be it. I adore how this huntress human interacts with the strong, silent leader of the kraken. Although it was a darker than the previous books, I also liked book 5 a lot. The hero and heroine are both dealing with pain, loss, betrayal, and feeling unworthy. I like how Kronus pushes Eva to be better, and how she helps him to heal as well. I just love that the "villain" from the previous stories is our hero; you can really see what motivates him and how he thinks is, eventually, swoon-worthy. I also feel like I should shout-out book 7, which features a couple who are both grandparent-age. While not my favorite couple, I still appreciated how the authors dealt with the feelings of loneliness and sense of disconnect that older people can face, and the idea that you can still live life and have new adventures no matter your age. This final book is a perfect way to end the series.
Every book in this series just serves to make the world a little more interesting and the plotlines are wonderful. I also like that each hero and heroine are different, so we're not just getting a modified version of the same couple over and over. And good gracious are the sexy scenes hot!
The world is wonderfully detailed. You can tell the authors spent some time creating a backstory and they do a good job of revealing it in increments throughout the series instead of putting everything out there right at the beginning. There's a great over-arching story line that keeps bringing the reader deeper and deeper into this universe and I have to say that I love falling down the rabbit hole. I highly, highly recommend these books!
