No Coincidence Kindle Edition
He came out of nowhere.
One moment I was sitting at a bar alone, sipping on my drink, and the next instant there he was. We shared a powerful night together. Months later, that night continues to invade my dreams. Then, just like in New York, he appears out of the blue. Looking as delectable as he was that night. Yet, I keep my distance. I’ve been burned one too many times.
That is, until I need his help.
I don’t believe in coincidences. Not when it comes to Resha. She’s been on my mind ever since the night we shared. Now, she needs my help and I will use every resource available to me to keep her safe. Because in such a short period of time, she’s become my entire world.

For Tiffany Patterson fans this book has all the old trappings of a classic TP book. It has a maniacal alpha male willing to go off the cliff at any moment for the heroine's sake (I guess). Right away I knew this book would crash.
This hero screamed at doctors, police, his brother, any man within five feet of the heroine and so much as looked at her, he even gave her a pet name after a one night stand? Yeah he's Irish American but speaks a language many Irelanders don't. He was a classic case of of the twisted fairytale man. Way too much testosterone expressed, and yes he's a prior MMA fighter with an underground rink, who happens to have random loads of money, a banging body a larger than nine you know...and a special piercing yadda yadda, we get it, he's perfect If you don't consider how many people he's threatened, how rage-crazy he becomes etc... My suspension of belief is so done right now that even this review is seems farfetched.
Yaw having met the hero, if I were the heroine I'd take my chances with the stalker person device used in the book. But then again the hero and heroine are made for each other I guess. She's a compulsive liar, a vain person who spends a lot of time changing her weave and not telling people pertinent information in the book. She doesn't tell her closest family about her stalker despite the jeopardy she might be in. She walks dark alleys at night for ice cream she's afraid to admit she was getting to the hero who saved her (literally). UGH. Nothing worse than knowing more about the heroine's shoes than her actual motivations. She had a terrible mother and was kinda orphaned at a young age, but I don't want to give spoilers, despite this being a common trope for a TP type character.
They are bullies to boot. Both of them. She's insensitive to her neighbor, the unsympathetic description of the Jarvis character, the beating he takes by her boyfriend who suspects him of stalking, her overlooking of him for such facial interactions with this character put me off. So he was unattractive and he had a crush, she ignores and berates him instead of being humane, she calls him "creepy" too, but later we find that she is mildly insecure about her size, as she is a plus sized fashion blogger. She expresses no empathy and no remorse for being a petty person throughout the book, she cannot step in Jarvis' shoes like at all. No dice.
We visit with all the other TP alpha males and their perfectly happy families, it is all dynasty-esque. Yawning again. Nothing worse than detailed accounts about people I have read about and found annoying in the past. Sometimes I wonder if first time readers get annoyed by the long exposition into the lives of people they haven't read and their hordes of kids and unbelievable famtopias.
The mystery isn't really a mystery at all. The alpha male gets the day, the spoiled, silly, bratty heroine wins her HEA, and has gotten through major losses like they are minor events.
The lack of depth, ability to feel love, compassion, a beautiful unfolding is lost in most TP books because we get a broody, over the top guy and a simpering unsure companion who caters to his whims. How can a romance bloom in these situations? It is of course very smexy, but the smexy doesn't quite work for me when the characters are so underdeveloped and cardboard.
For those who classically love these tropes and don't seek a heartwarming romance with all the trimmings, go for it! If you enjoy hard issues installed into a fairly one dimensional eros-love then go for it. I'm not into affect. I want to read true, gorgeous romance between balanced characters taking a journey into love. A ton of dressing does nothing for me.
Ever buy a really pretty tart or pastry that doesn't actually taste like what you hoped it would? No Coincidence, ash in this reader's mouth.
Resha's life experience was full of hurt and loneliness. She felt that she was not worthy of love being that her mother just threw her away. She did not know what family life was like until her aunt and uncle took her in when she was abandoned. Her cousin Destiny became her best friend/ sister and business partner. She had self-doubt about her worthiness of being loved truly by a man. Her previous relations were unfulfilling and heartbreaking, so when Connor came into her life, showing her love and affection and wanted to protect her, she was waiting for the shoe to drop with his abandonment when he got bored like all the other men in her life. So when the opportunity arose for her to run after a very trying loss in her life, she wanted to run but Connor would not let her and held fast.
Resha had problems opening up and letting people into her inner sanctum of life. She was harboring secrets not even Destiny and her aunt knew about. She was very reticent in telling Connor about her stalker until she was attacked. He was the only person she was able to let into her heart fully. And she was the only person that Connor allowed to get him to repair the relationship with his brother Mark. He would protect her from anyone who ever hurt her in the past and he vowed to protect her from her stalker and he did.
I loved this story as I do all of Tiffany's books. My heart just broke for Resha when she was in the hospital. My feelings were just raw, reading her feelings in her loss. Considering what she went through as a child with a drug addicted mother, I can imagine how she would feeling when true love came calling. I also loved how the author used Mark's character to lighten a very serious plot. His humor had me laughing and loving his personality. It was also refreshing to see other Townsend family members in the mix as well.
