R.J. Patterson is an award-winning writer and thriller author living in the Pacific Northwest. While growing up in a military family, he spent some of his formative years living with his family on the estate of an English baron and baroness. It was there that he developed his passion for good literature and an appreciation for football.

Upon returning to the United States, R.J. entered the field of journalism where he won numerous writing awards and has written articles for many prestigious U.S. newspapers, including The New York Times. He later left journalism full-time to pursue writing books and now resides in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and four children. He plans to write many more thrilling novels unless the CIA presses him into service to save the world.

Usually, Patterson’s books are well written, with few errors, but from the beginning of this novel, he uses males for females in his sentences, and worse, confuses his characters. He starts a sentence with Morgan, when the character is Mia. This confusion continues through the novel. Fire your editor! This is ridiculous!

The Keystone Protocol, the eighth book in the Phoenix Chronicles may just be my favorite of the series. While Brady and Alex play a pivotal part in the story, Morgan, Mia, and Big Erv also have larger parts making for a fuller story. While these stories are normally action packed and filled with intrigue, The Keystone Protocol takes it to a higher level especially in the intrigue/misdirection. In fact, this story was filled with more close calls for not just the Phoenix Foundation crew, but several other characters leaving this reader to wonder if this might be the end of several folks.

I am so glad to read another book by this author. The story is fast moving and a real page turner. Always a great read. If you like to read action stories you should read this book.
