Didn't finish - through in the towel after half way through.

Some great actors, especially Ben and Anthony but wow, this one is a stinker. Drawn out car chase scenes, bullets flying everywhere but of course our hugely inept "hero" never gets touched.

Boy meets girl in Germany. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl loves boy back. But girl has a really big problem. She needs a $200,000 kidney transplant operation.

Boy is flat broke. So he agrees to steal a truck load of drugs from a local drug kingpin (Anthony Hopkins) under the direction of a rival drug dealer (Ben Kingsley) for some quick cash. Once he does, all hell breaks loose across the city of Berlin.

And what a wild ride this movie is - edge of your seat car chases, horrific car crashes, fast action fight scenes and boatloads of bullets flying across the screen for nearly 2 hours straight.

If this is your kind of movie, fasten your seat belt and get ready for a kick ass ride.

Great story, direction, acting and car chases.

Needing cash to save the love of this life Juliette (Felicity Jones), Casey Stein (Nicholas Hoult) returns to his former employer and drug smuggler Geran (Ben Kingsley) for one last job – which goes horribly wrong. Now on the run from ruthless mob boss Hagen (Anthony Hopkins) we get what I will say are the best car chases in a very long time and I for one am not a fan of long drawn out chases. Nicholas Hoult is outstanding in this role and he has that rare ability to portray fear and bravery at times when it is needed. He is magnificent. Felicity is very good too as the good girl girlfriend and has a couple funny bits. The thumbs up that Nicholas gets is also because he can go toe to toe with 2 of the worlds best. Anthony Hopkins as such a great bad guy and Ben Kingsley having a blast as a drug addled crime boss. This is recommended to everyone!

Serious holes in plots
Verified purchase
There are some serious holes in the plot that left me angry after watching this movie. One example (spoiler alert!) is they are surrounded by police and SWAT, and a helicopter, but they magically escape out the back door- seems the German police forgot to cover it.
There are several other examples like this during the film that leave me scratching my head. I'm surprised it had 4 stars.

Solid Action Movie
Verified purchase
This is a action movie first and foremost. On action it delivers in spades. We have bad guys being bad. Questionable motivations galore inhabit many of the characters in Collide. The really bad guys lose in the end and the romance appears fulfilled so we get a bit of bonus compared to normal Action Movie fare and that is why this is a solid four star flick. The negative reviews here may not have been paying attention to so of the other bonuses like some great scenery, an amazing assortment of exotic vehicles, a very good sound track, and a mostly flowing plot with logically included twists.

We watch action movies for action not deep plot and character development. Collide is a good example of action.
Now, from what I was reading, this movie bankrupted the production budget. On that regard it is not great.

Solid action film, with Ben Kinsley and Anthony Hopkins
Verified purchase
Predictable? Yes. Filled with contrived plot threads? Yes. BUT, it's a good action film; this is nothing to take seriously, just a fun flick with solid actors, very solid. Ben Kinsley? Anthony Hopkins? Both were not mentioned on the homepage, so needless to say, this was a nice surprise and the film benefits as one would expect. My biggest critique is for some of the car chase scenes in the cities. This is no "Ronin," arguably the best modern car chase movie. The cars look slow on the cobblestone streets. Maybe hand-held camera-shots could have helped, or the dreaded sped-up film. This is Germany, home of the autobahn for crying out loud! Let the stunt drivers have at it!

Good Action
Verified purchase
Wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The two heavies (Kingsley and Hopins) play their parts to the hilt. I kept trying to figure out where I had seen Nicholas Hoult. Finally went to IMDb and looked him up. He is good in this, in fact all the actors are good. The action is excellent and what the lead does to cars could surpass all the Bourne car chases. I really recommend this as something that you can sit down and enjoy and even ponder over later.

Popcorn At Its Finest
Verified purchase
We watched Collide after viewing the trailer and thought, "Looks like fun." Indeed, we were treated to a full-blown popcorn movie experience. The plot of Collide is a love story driven (literally) by the romance between a young ex-pat American who cooks up a heist to fund life-saving surgery for his lady . Of course, said heist goes woefully wrong and the film's narrative then speed-shifts into a relentless pursuit fueled by heart-stopping chase sequences, various and sundry beatings ordered by colorful bad guys, portrayed by Shakespearean-trained Antony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley gleefully spouting eccentric dialogue as they menace a young J.R.R. Tolkien and Ruth Bader Ginsberg--no wait---I mean Nicholas Hoult and Felicty Jones. Collide is mind-numbing ride of a movie. Think of it as Mad Max Fury Road Meets True Romance (Antony Hopkins actually quotes Holt's memorable "What a lovely day” line to him ) Such Guilty Pleasures are to be embraced in the spirit for which they are intended. And don't forget the popcorn.
