About Jonathan London
PICKS A PUMPKIN and FROGGY BUILDS A SNOWMAN will follow in 2019. Then FROGGY FOR PRESIDENT! will be published early in 2020.
My Froggy books are funny and kids love them. But I also write other kinds of books, including wildlife books: HIPPOS ARE HUGE! OTTERS LOVE TO PLAY! (river otters). And more recently: PUP THE SEA OTTER (illustrated by my son Sean London). PUP THE SEA OTTER won the 2017 NATIONAL OUTDOOR BOOK AWARD (NOBA), the 2017 National Science Teacher's Association Outstanding Children's Trade Book Award, and the 2018 ILA/CBC Children's Choice Award
My most recent wildlife book is LITTLE FOX IN THE SNOW (NOV. 13 2018), featured in
the Wall Street Journal Seasons Greetings children's book section.
I've also written a middle grade novel trilogy: Aaron's Wilderness Trilogy: DESOLATION CANYON, BELLA BELLA, and GRIZZLY PEAK, all illustrated by my son, Sean London, who is an animator.
I started a new picture book series with DUCK AND HIPPO IN THE RAINSTORM, followed
by DUCK AND HIPPO LOST AND FOUND. DUCK AND HIPPO GIVE THANKS came out on 8/20/18, to be followed by DUCK AND HIPPO THE SECRET VALENTINE Dec. 18 2018. I've published over 120 books since 1992, but now I only write poems for myself. My sons and my wife, Maureen, are my constant inspirations. But I'm also inspired by young children, dogs, mountains, rivers, stars, trees, great cities, deserts, jungles, great food, dance, art, some sports, and the moon. And if anybody asks, Froggy c'est moi--but he's also Aaron and Sean, and every kid I've ever met. Flop flop flop!

Everyone’s favorite frog learns to swim!
Frogs are supposed to be great swimmers. "Not me!" says Froggy, who's afraid of the water. But with a little encouragement, some practice, and the help of a silly song or two, Froggy becomes an expert frog-kicker!
“Froggy’s childlike dialogue and the sound words—‘zook! Zik!’; ‘flop flop . . . splash!’ make this a wonderful read aloud.” —School Library Journal
An IRA/CBC Children’s Choice
A Junior Library Guild Selection
Jonathan London and Frank Remkiewicz have collaborated on the six previous Froggy books, and they've cooked up another winner here, sweetened with generous helpings of Froggy humor and charm.
Froggy has great plans for all the money he's going to make from his lemonade stand. But there's a problem: he was so thirsty that he drank all the lemonade. Luckily lovable Froggy has lots of good friends to help him find a solution. Even if they don't get rich, they all have a very good time!
Duck and Hippo have a picnic and a new adventure!
Duck and Hippo invite their friends Turtle, Elephant, and Pig to a picnic at their favorite pond. Yippee! It’s time to dance and sing, swim and eat. Everyone brings goodies to share…except Hippo. He didn’t bring ANYTHING. So Hippo sets off into the forest to find some berries. But he is gone a long time, and Duck begins to worry that Hippo is lost. What should his friends do to find him? Join Duck and Hippo on another fun adventure!
Get ready for a rainy-day adventure with Duck and Hippo!
Duck and Hippo may be completely different, but they are best friends. When playful Duck invites careful Hippo to go for a walk in the rain, they have trouble sharing Duck’s umbrella. But Duck and Hippo won’t let that stop them. Soon they are puddle-jumping and sailing down the river! Until…WHOOOSH! A terrible wind sends the umbrella flying up, up, up into the air, with one friend holding on. What will Duck and Hippo do now? Jonathan London’s charming text and Andrew Joyner’s delightful art bring to life two lovable friends in this fun new series.
A little boy climbs into bed with a book and starts counting the train cars in it, between the engine and caboose. "Ten sleepy cars going clickety-clack," reads the refrain. But as the boy counts cars and gets sleepier and sleepier, his room looks more and more like one of the train cars from his book--the sleeping car, of course!
Rhythmically told by the author of the Froggy books, Sleep Train is also stunning to look at. 3D illustrator, Lauren Eldridge, has sculpted an entire train full of intricate details. Part bedtime story, part counting book, part children's fantasy, Sleep Train is a magical ride to dreamland.
Mom has agreed: Froggy can have a pet. Off to the pet store they go. Mom would prefer a bunny or some mice, but Froggy and his little sister, Pollywogilina, have their hearts set on a doggy. And when Froggy sees the little dog with big brown eyes, he begs to take her home.
Mom cautions Froggy about all the new responsibilities he will have taking care of Doggy, but Froggy’s sure there will be no problem. He doesn’t count on Doggy being more difficult to train than he expected.
Froggy always lands himself in a pickle, but he always bounces back. That’s why everyone loves him!
