About Clay Martin
I served in two branches of service, the USMC and the US Army. In the Corps I was in the infantry, a Scout/ Sniper, and a Recon Marine.
In the Army I served as a Green Beret, with most of my career spent in 3rd Special Forces Group. I was an Operational Detachment Alpha ( ODA) Communications SGT, Intelligence SGT, and ended my career as a SFAUC instructor.
I was forced to medically retire in 2013, and spent a few years in the usual jobs, teaching people to shoot and contracting. I have been all over the world, and seen a thing or two out of the ordinary.
I started writing novels in August of 2017, and finished my first non-fiction survival book in June of 2020. Sadly, it has proven to be a crystal ball for our slide into the abyss.
I live in Idaho with my wife, sons, and pack of feral dogs.

Blog postThis week’s book review takes us in a different direction, with one of my all-time favorites. Though published in 2007, Thirteen by Richard K. Morgan is one you should pick up if you haven’t.
This is a sci fi book, but will appeal to readers besides that. I’m not the biggest sci fi junkie in the world, though I do like the genre on occasion. Thirteen, however, is better thought of a philosophical tale that happens to inhabit a sci fi universe. There is a murder mystery plot line, but2 years ago Read more -
Blog postEven before I started writing my own books, I was often asked for recommendations by friends. Comes with the territory if you are voracious reader, which I was before my rug rats started making bedtime a siege on a nightly basis. Still, this is something I have been meaning to add to the blog for quite some time. There is a lot of junk on the shelves at your local book store. Nothing is more frustrating than spending some coins, finally sitting down to read a much anticipated story, and it2 years ago Read more

Blog postIt has been a wild year, as any of you that follow on Facebook or Twitter already know.
We put our house on the market last May, and what followed was the worst real estate debacle I have ever been party too. We sold our house. We put another house under contract. Our house sale fell apart. We lost the one under contract. We sold our house again. Rinse and repeat. 3 times. Finally, in December, we had a real buyer.
