Another amazing book by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. Emotions are so clearly depicted and conflicts are well shown as Ada recuperates from her surgery to repair her crippled foot. She navigates her growing attachment to her adopted mother and the grief over the loss of a friend's brother. Although there are references to Miss Smith's past close relationship with a woman, as a Christian, I didn't think it clearly portrayed it as a homosexual relationship. A good read-aloud book for a family since like book 1, there are references to abuse that can be frightening.
