How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars7 yo grandson loved reading it aloud
Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2018
I hadn't yet previewed it but one night when I was visiting & he needed a more challenging book, this did the trick. Just that day we'd been discussing the importance of honesty. Along with that, other topics regarding good manners & ethics are presented and discussed in VERY humorous ways kids will recall FAR better than any "lecture" could. I highly recommend this for kids 5 to ~9

3.0 out of 5 starsProbably better for older kids.
Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2018
I love the idea of this book more than the execution. A little too 'much' content for young kids (3-years), and not really conducive to reading aloud. Maybe will be more interesting when it's a 'read this yourself' type of story. Doesn't mean that my toddler doesn't enjoy it, though, so it's still a win in general. Not so much for me right now though unfortunately. I find myself trying to explain more than anything else.

Quiet difficult to read due to writing pretty much all over the page ie upside down, sideways. Frustrating!

I don't care for the way this book is written- lots of side comments, word bubbles, phrases, etc. outside of the story. The story is also silly and hard to follow. My kindergarten class wasn't very interested in it at all.

not so great - a lot of play on words that little kids won't get and I am unsure of big kids would be amused. Disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a teaching tool

Unless your 6 year old is very keen on puns, this book will not teach the golden rule in any meaningful way. While the concept for the story is cute, it never explains the golden rule beyond the pun.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for reading aloud
Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2016

This book would be better for kids that can read on their own. Book is all over the place and it is hard to read aloud to my 5 year old. There are things written all over the page and in different directions so you have to navigate through it and see which parts you should actually read out loud. It is a wacky way of explaining manners. My son thought some of it was funny and the manners that are being discussed are great, but I don't believe he really got the message.

2.0 out of 5 stars No real story

Wish i has listened to other reviews that said there is no story here. Most pages are just long didactic lists of how to behave (eg be a good sport, play fair, say please, etc). As if kids don't hear enough of that already.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs updating to be more inclusive to autistics
Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2019
I checked this out at the library, and so glad I did not purchase. It’s not rude to NOT make eye contact. It’s okay to NOT smile. Also, “respect your elders” is so wrong. Respect everyone and they respect you! Respect is earned as well, not due to an age.

I blindly started reading this book to my children, who are both autistic. I had to stop more than once to correct. I don’t want my children thinking they have to make eye contact in order to be considered a nice person. Eye contact can be physically, emotionally draining for us (I’m autistic too). Smiling?! I had flashbacks from working retail and being told by men 3x my age to smile. I’m happy with or without showing a smile.

We did enjoy the play on words and silly illustrations. Reason I gave it 2 stars vs 1 star.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interesting idea but boring in the end
Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2017
Not very helpful. My son has ASD and is quite literal in his thinking. I purchased this book hoping it would be a useful tool. He struggles with social scripts a little more than a neurotypical kid would. I found the idea and play on words to be an interesting idea but not well executed. It just ended up being repetitive and boring to him. I even lost interest reading it out loud.

This is a likeable tale but I do not like the illustrations very much for small children and the story is a little bit hard to follow because of the illustration being so complicated and quite complex.
