How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

Classic series. I liked the first (oldest) story best. It was dated, but with well thought out plot devices. The next stories seemed more like excuses to get the characters back together for a story, and had less of the interesting storytelling of the first book. The last was trying to tie together elements for other series Asimov wrote.

The delivery took too much time and the book did not correspond to the picture. It is very old and damaged. I was really impatient to read it, otherwise I would have sent it back.

5.0 out of 5 stars The very first Robot Murder Mystery Novel
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on March 25, 2013

I read The Caves of Steel when I was young. Asimov is brilliant in his very first Robot Murder Mystery starring R. Daneel Olivaw (a humaniform/humanoid robot of Spacer manufacture) and Detective Elijah Bailey (from Earth). The books included in this Omnibus Edition are set in a future time when the Earth's cities are massively overpopulated and domed over. No one ever goes outside. The "Spacers" are people who immigrated from Earth to the Outer Worlds and live very extended lifespans due to various reasons. Both the people from the Earth and the Spacers distrust each other and have an uneasy alliance, and robots (except in the Spacer area) are now forbidden on Earth but heavily relied on in the Spacer Worlds. It sets the scene for the next two (which are included here). I don't want to spoil these books for anyone so I won't say more than that. Highly recommend this edition of the books especially if you enjoy The Foundation Series.

Somehow, I started with the 3rd book in the trilogy, many years ago. It was nice to get the full picture finally.

This is my favorite Asimov series. Loved it . I have re read the series 4 times. It is particularly interesting currently with all the robot work being done. A great blend of robots n humans in very varied conditions/ planets. The comfortable human story and in opposition the robots who were very sympathetically portrayed. In fact some of the humans were much less wonderful than the robots !!!, Great stories.
I did not like 'foundation' series.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an Omnibus edition of The Caves of Steel, The Naked Sun, and The Robots of Dawn.

The Robot Novels
This is an Omnibus edition of
The Caves of Steel (R. Daneel Olivaw, Book 1) , The Naked Sun  and  The Robots of Dawn .

Each of these has Elijanh Baley as the protagonist and R.(Robot) Daneel Oliva as a supporting character.
They each were a murder mysteries (if you accept the "killing of a anthropomorphic robot as murder"

Each occurs on a different planet; Earth, Solaria, and Aurora.

I highly recommend this to Asimov aficionada and to robot fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Isaac was the best

This was a fun buy, reminding me of how good a writer Asimov was. Humor and intellectual chess all through the collected wworks. It is excellent reading for kids to give them a taste of logic and a broader world of the mind. I used to read Isaac in the pulps; most sci-fi writers have incorporated his style in many ways and all to the better. Thanks, Isaac; you were the best. His auto-bios are insightful reading, also available on Amazon, used. Never met him, but miss him.

I've always been a HUGE fan of Asimov's. This is one of my favorite reads of all time. I was disappointed though. I ordered this trilogy and only received one of the books instead. The seller was nice enough to refund half the purchase price and i got to keep the book (as a replacement trilogy was not available) Incident aside, this trilogy is worth the time and money to get.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three of Asimov's early Robot books for the price of one. Great deal!
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on October 3, 2013

These three stories could be considered the earliest prequels to the Foundation epoch in that they introduce R. Daneel Olivaw. Of more importance they give key clues to Daneel's motivations for his later actions on Earth. Those actions help lead to the creation of the Empire which preceded the Foundation. At the same time they are classic detective stories featuring New York City police detective Elijah Baley. Who would later have an entire planet named after him.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Asimov's fiction work

I love Asimov's fiction work. I haven't read these books in years. I read them for the first time as a teenager. I've re-read them several times. Half "who-done-it," half sci-fi. Lots of fun with Asimov's laws of robotics.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 Separate Books (see pic)

Not sure if it's different for each third party seller but mine came as three separate books. Haven't read them yet but it's Asimov so they'll be excellent! Buying them in the trilogy saves money too.
