This book is a tear jerker but also uproariously funny.

Oh my what a read!! I couldn’t put it down. Dorothea Benton Frank is genius. She made me laugh, cry, and angry. and happy I absolutely love her zany, eccentric, and fun characters. Underneath those characters is a lovely plot about women changing their lives, basically reinventing themselves. Be ready though for some sadness and anger. The setting of the book is the isle of Palms in the low country. Ms Frank has captured the scenery and way of life in this low country novel. Her use of Gemchee and Gullah cultures and language just add to the read.
Anna lost her mother at the age of ten. She was raised by her mostly absent father and her grandmother. Anna was never sure what stories about her mother were the truth. Her grandmother was very domineering and never showed any love to her granddaughter. Anna also had more trauma in her life. Could she overcome all of this and find herself?
I absolutely recommend this book.
