Just read Conroys First Command of K Company series the second of three books. Maybe my senses are dulled but other than the awful fighting with the Indians about two thirds the way into the book, I didn't detest so many things as I did in reading the first book. Me being a female, I didn't like the cussing especially taking our Lord's name in vain, and I thought some of the punishment to the soldiers was way beyond terrible!! One of the punishment to two soldiers, they tied their ankles together and were made to bend down on their knees, put their wrists back behind their behinds then tie rd their wrists to their ankles, and remember this was in freezing cold winter time. I can't remember for sure now, but the two men either fell over or were laid over on the ground, but the pain soon got excruciating, as you can imagine. They had to stay this way for four hours!! I won't even begin to tell you about the punishment in this story! I'm just thankful I'm not a man, born back then and in THAT Regular Army! I KNOW I WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE DESERTERS right off the bat! I do highly recommend you read this book, though. If you read the first book, you also need to read this one. I think before it's over with, Conroy will become quite the commander. And I hope Link will start controlling his everloving need to drink anything he can get his hands on!! Mercy! The story was very interesting, a very good story. The author is a very good writer.
