'In the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness ' is the beginning at the end of a war.

I started the 'Wingfeather Saga' expecting a storyline similar to that of the Narnia series. I was disappointed in the amount of violence, especially against children, along with the distasteful description of the Fangs, their appearance, their treatment of non-Fangs, and ingredients of their foods. I felt that Slarb received an excessive amount of 'media coverage.' I wasn't impressed by Podo's relationship with His Maker. I felt for Peet, who try as he did, will have to wait for the sequel to come out before he's allowed his own coming-out. The backdrop of the story is dropped on the reader in the last thirty pages of the book, with ongoing questions that lead into the sequel.
