Subject researched by an investigative journalist...very up front and personal

As a physician I am interested in the history of medicine and this book, written in 2001, is very relevant to today's pandemic. Ms. Kolata details the stories behind the 1918 pandemic in detail and the difficult job of identifying the virus that was ongoing over 70 years later. For me this was a page turner. To a non-physician, some of the actual facts that she discusses could be too graphic or upsetting.
I highly recommend this history of the 1918 Influenza pandemic as one of the best researched and written books on the subject.
