How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsJust fine

It's a cute book and the illustrations are nicely done. The only complaint I have is that while it does rhyme, I don't like that they just take the end of the word and tack it onto the end of the next words. Like elephant and "hellophant". I bought it cause I thought it rhymed (like gruffalo or room on the broom) so kinda disappointed. It's a good book just not what I was really looking for.

Eh. I don't like the nonsense words. I can't flow when I read to my baby. She must think I'm some sort of idiot for not being able to quickly pronounce what she assumes are normal words in a baby book. But no, it's yellowphant, elephantipede, and flosserous. Will have to gift this one to some pregnant friend before mine can start asking for re-reads.

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny but not a fan of “made up” words

Funny book. Though author peppers JM made up words throughout in order to make the sentences rhyme. My 5 year old (who is doing fairly well with reading) got stumped by all the made up words and I could see her trying to figure out if she should try remembering these words. For kids who are learning to read, this may confuse children

My very advanced 2 and a half year old grandson doesn't like this. And frankly I don't either. Pictures are fun, but central to the story are a centipede, dental floss and wet concrete, which are generally not within the experience of a child that age. A joke is not funny if you you have to explain everything about it. Probably good for older kids.

This book is one of my least favorite that I have bought for my son. After reading reviews I decided to take a chance because they were so split. The book is cute, but for the sake of rhyming the author used made up words. This wouldn’t bother me if it were only a few corky made up words, but I just felt like it was too much and ended up taking away from the book and overall story. I would not recommend this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but just okay.

The illustrations are super cute, but it would be a lot cuter if they didn't put the end of the animal names at the end of so many other words. Bottomus, cementepede, hellophant, ect... I just read most of the words normally and it sounds better to me. My toddler loves the pictures when I read it to her, though!

The book had good intentions. The point of the book was cute and had nice vivid pictures, but they tried to much to make it rhyme and for a toddler learning to read it's very confusing with the book mixing words together to rhyme and be funny.

I bought this book for my 7 year old granddaughter. While she enjoyed the pictures, the words were difficult for her to read or understand. I believe it is more suited as a read aloud book so that there can be more expression while being read. A young child might be able to form the words, but I perhaps not get the full benefit without expression. Would recommend to anyone looking to add a book to their read aloud library.

The illustrations are eye catching and enjoyable for a toddler. But the rhyming patterns are a little far fetched and difficult to read aloud. Would have preferred spending my money on a book that was deeper and less nonsensical.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but not for younger toddlers

Cute book. Bright colors, fun illustrations, rhyming. Pages turn fast, as there aren’t a lot of words on each page. Length and play on words makes it not a good fit for a young toddler. For example, the title is two words combined. That theme continues throughout the book.

The pictures are not very colorful. This may be more suited to an older child, maybe 5 or 6 years.
