The best book about how this country came to be a leader I've ever read!

One of the rare 5 stars I ever give. This is a must read for everyone that is interested in the history of how this country led and should continue to lead the way to innovation. Also, this should be a requirement for everyone in politics to read! I also rarely highlight parts of a book while i read it. This one has my markings all over it. This is an easy and amazing book to read. I can't say enough good things about it.

Excellent material, but you have to concentrate

The material in this book is absolutely excellent and should be required for any politician before being able to take office! So few Americans truly understand how our great nation was built and upon which values and principles the Constitution stands.

The audio version of the book is read by Cleon Skousen's son, whose voice is not particularly compelling. I bought the CD version so I could listen to the book while driving, but I found that I have to turn it off when I really need to pay attention to the road! It's definitely not "bubble-gum" reading. I loved the forward by Glenn Beck.

I wish this were also required reading for all students to graduate from high school. It's a bit heavy, but our country would be stronger if more people understood these founding principles.

Loved this book so much I bought copies for my co workers and my siblings. Its fascinating and thought provoking, just a really good read. I have highlighted and book marked pages in this book, which is something I rarely do, I was always taught not to write in books or mark on them, but this book truly impressed me. I usually donate or give most of my books to others, but this is one of those books I like to reference to and so enjoy re reading. It explains so much about our country.

I bought this book several years ago and have read it several times since as my reference to the Founders' reasoning and intent. In addition, it explains that America was established as "One nation under God" not based on religious quackery, but rather Divine and Universal Law. The Founders understood human nature (the root of corruption, dishonesty, and division) and as a result they sought to design a system where one powerful human's nature could not suppress the rights of the average individual. This book dives into each aspect, leaving the reader with profound understanding of America's founding principals, and appreciation of her presence. America is not a perfect country... but she is a country which holds the value of individual freedom for all, and that is what makes her a miracle. I definitely recommend this book to any high school or college student.

This book conjures feelings of fear that our country is slipping yet at the same time builds confidence that it can correct itself if we subscribe to the principles developed by the founding fathers (and plainly described in this book). Despite our many problems , We live in such a great country and this book helps outline why this is so. Happy Independance Day

This is a history of America and how we went from a bunch of farmers and shop keepers to the greatest country in the world. Our economic strength, military might, scientific advancements etc are all shown to be direct results of the wonderful experiment that is the U.S. constitution. Nowhere else in the world did a group of learned men get together to write a code of laws designed to allow the citizenry to live, work, worship and advance their lives while participating in the governmental processes, protected by rights and freedoms that are natural, god-given and safeguarded by law. It is not a dry, stuffy history book but reads like a wonderful story.....which our history certainly is. This book should be required reading in every high school in the country, so that the new crop of young voters will understand where we came from, how we got to this point, and why we need to get back to the vision and intentions of the founding fathers.

This is a great starting point for understanding the proven success formula to freedom framed by our founders in the constitution. Thoroughly researched by the author who obviously spent their life in studying, understanding and teaching the constitution including worked in the FBI.
A few points to highlight:
- The Book quotes from the founders themselves and the books they studied when forming the constitution.
- Breaks down the formula to freedom into 28 easy to understand and follow principles.
- Gives you context into the founders situation and thinking
After reading the book you will have a greater respect for America and her unique constitution.
This book does not go through the constitution verbatim, it goes through its principles however it does give some details on it. If you want a book that goes through the articles of the constitution I would recommend this book along with his other book called “The Making of America”.
These books should be required reading for all Americans if we want to preserve our liberty.
