A sophomoric exercise in rote defense paranoia.

I bought this book as a highly recommended buy for insights into conversations about American military and naval strategy. I am, however, deeply disappointed at the age old saw that American forces are leaky, shabby, ill-trained, imbecilic knaves while our (distant) rivals are ravenous, deadly, super buff tigers with lasers ready to rape all our cats and dogs. There is little in the way here beyond some basic historical pedagogy, but its greatest failure is the failure to contextualize Chinese economic strategy vis a vis the American corporate alliance with Chinese industry, as well as the Chinese Communist Party.
