Well, I didn't hate A Knight's Persuasion. I mean, I did, after all, finish reading the book. But it isn't one I would recommend or one I would have chosen if I had read an exert first. The plot is a great one. The whole story idea is FANTABULOUS. What I didn't like was the incredible over-use of the word "mercenary." It got to the point where if I had to see the word on the page once more, I was ready to throw my phone at the wall! Ugh! Find another word, Catherine, for heavens sake!!! I also found myself sick of the way Edouard was ALWAYS looking lustily at Julianna. Good grief. Can't a man ever look at a woman without being a pig??? Is that the ONLY way to demonstrate that a virile hero is in love with "his" woman? It grossed me out. There's a difference between hot sex scenes and a guy who is tied up in chains and his beloved has been wounded unto death yet he's still horny. Put it in your pocket already!!!! Maybe that's more reality and I'm the one who needs to grow up, but if I'm going to read a romance novel, I at least want to pretend my hero has some control over himself. Otherwise he's nothing but a horny-toad; he might as well be the villain of the story rather than the hero.
