How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

You're my favorite author. Hey I think this was the best book in the series. Socially relevant commentary of our time. It's funny that for John and Dave I picture the actors from the first books movie, because I saw the movie first. In a world full of boring ass books, it's nice to have a book that has it all. I sent a copy to my friend as well. Please keep writing! I like how your books play at human deep rooted fears such as fear of dark, spiders, having a body, the unknown. I enjoy the warped nature, the humor, the ride it takes you for, the whole thing was great!

This story began well, and it ended well, but the middle was a bit of a muddle. I generally like a little bit less social commentary with my intergalactic stories, but I see what he wanted to do, and I'm okay with it, except that it came at the price of coherence.

I preordered this book despite having no intention of actually reading it. I'm a big fan of the series but am at a point in my life where I just dont have time to sit and read an actual book and havent managed to in at least the last couple of years.

Last Friday I woke up with the plague and ended up taking a sick day. As I was laying on the couch, fighting off death, I happened to glance at my book shelf and the lime green cover caught my eye. I decided to try and see if I could get a couple chapters in before my cold medicine kicked in and I was reduced to being comatose.

Next thing I know it's 1:30 am, my family was all asleep and I was still awake, crushing the last few pages. I literally cant remember the last time I sat down and read a book cover to cover (it was probably one of the other jdate books) but despite my worsening disease and inevitable achyness I had to look forward to after being prone for 15 hours straight, it was absolutely worth it.

There is nothing predictable about this book. It is an insane fever dream of a dying man on a rollercoaster in the dark. I deeply love this series because in a world of remakes and rebrands where every bit of media or content we consume seems like a photocopied version of a million things we've seen before this book is fresh! It is new and something you've never read before.

Now I will just have to manage my dissapointment that it's over and the depressing knowledge that it will be years before the next installment. But it's better to have loved and lost then to never picked up the book in the first place.

10/10 would recommend.

The fourth in the series keeps it weird but never repetitive. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Looking forward (hoping?) To the next one.

I have heard other reviewers speak of their copy of this book having a green cover. My version has a picture of a weird looking doll against a blue background. Anyone else?..Also, my copy kind of.....moans or errrr.. gurgles. Is that the right word?
At least this book is DA FILTHY! Buy it if you enjoy Pargin's style. Nuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another one!?! Really? I guess we're doing this

For Christ Sake! Get this man some therapy! How long will this madness go on before someone has the decency to do something!?! That's what I find myself screaming into the mirror each morning between these books coming out. Then, for a brief while, I get a new one to read, and the cycle starts again. This, the latest in the continuing absurd horror series, has our favorite misanthropes feeling older, but just as incompetent at saving the world, and this time, they may need a few tries to fix reality, stop a cult from ending the world, and afford healthcare. If you're a fan of the series, my advice is the same as always, and after the CT scan comes back fine, buy the book. If you have never heard of John Dies At The End, here's your new favorite series. Enjoy!

My husband was very excited about getting this book but then when he got the book it had black marks on the cover, the spine, and some of the pages. It is still able to be read but it was disappointing.

As always, Jason Pargin, a.k.a. David Wong, delivers the perfect blend of horror, humor, and insightful commentary on the human condition. I love this series so much that every time a new novel is released, I start over from the beginning (John Dies at the End) and read it all the way through again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Less Humor, More Dread

Where the first three JDATE books combine a sense of Lovecraftian Horror with a dark, sometimes juvenile humor, this one focuses horrifically inward. There's more overt magic (instead of general confusion of is it magic? Is it monsters? Is it gas?) but the inward introspection doesn't deliver except to sandwich, some good at the beginning and some good at the end. I know we want characters to grow and move forward, but this at times felt a lot like reading strangers dressed up in costumes acting in a play.

However, I read the whole thing in a day. While I didn't find David, Amy, and John to be their normal selves, I did feel a deep seated unease the entire time that kept me turning the page. The best way I can describe this is as such: You know where things are going in a sense, even if you don't know where they're going in the exact spot, and you're kinda surprised that any genitals or explosions are unsurprising. Everyone feels like they're just checking in, which in a way is exactly what the characters feel.

Still, a satisfying read. I'll probably visit it again on the next series read through on a long international flight

Wow! Already I want more, that is how the John Dies at the End series always is; you end up satisfied, little dopamine hits that come from such a fun and well-written story, but you end up with cravings. Jason's books seem as if there were a small parasite embedded in your brain tissue whose only goal was lightly hugging your glands and squishing out waves of happy juices over your wrinkle mass with every turn of the page. Luckily, this cosmic horror show filled with off-beat laughter is not alone. While this book can be enjoyed right away without any prerequisite reading, there are three other books in the JDATE series to enjoy that take place before this one for you to read as well as another series titled "Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits".

This book is a grand addition to the universe, and it saddens me to think there are other univeses, as implied in the title, which have no access to this tale. Take advantage of your position in the multi-verse, and buy this book!

The parasitic multi-dimensional entity tickling your brainstem will thank you.
