Another great Joe Ledger read by Maberry. Spoiler alert.
This one starts with Joe and team Havoc on Trsenik Island on the Adriatic Sea. Top is worried about Joe since he lost all of his family and he and Junie had almost died from the explosion. His Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law and their kids were killed in that explosion. Joe was devastated by those deaths.
Top talked with Church about keeping Joe out of this mission. Church disagreed and sent Joe and his team, Havoc on the mission.
On the island Mislav Mitrovic, a tech billionaire, is the target for Havoc. He has connections to Kuga, someone of great interest to Church. Kuga is planning something and from the rumors its something really big.
Taking Mitrov's home turns out to be nothing for Havoc. Joe and Ghost find a bunker with people all attacking each other. It reminds Joe of Rage.
How right he turns out to be.
This one has Joe and Ghost, a Joe who leaves the island with Ghost. A Joe who is consumed by darkness, a Joe who does the right things to stay alive but doesn't remember how he did it, Rafael Santoro, a man Joe very much wants to kill, the man who blew up his family, Top and Bunny who report a missing Joe and Ghost, a Church who doesn't quite know what to think of Joe's leaving but wants him found, a Joe who will leave a trail of destruction and death in his wake, Kuga, Mr. Sunday who turns out to be an old enemy of Church and his teams, Violin, her man, Junie who is worried to death about Joe, Top and Bunny who infiltrate a pavilion in Texas, RTI the outfit run by Church, fixers who are juiced and stronger and quicker than most warriors, battle suits, a plan for one big attack and Joe Ledger, Church and RTI doing what they do best. Beat the enemy.
Five stars and then some.
