My kids love these books but I have one, “should I share my ice cream?” That is totally scrambled. The pages are not bound in the correct order. Going to try to reach out to the publisher and see if they will send a replacement. These were from “Santa” so I’m trying to avoid returning the whole set
My daughter loves Elephant and Piggie books. She is in 1st grade, she doesn't always like to read before bedtime. But she loves these books. It is much easier for me to convince her to bedtime reading, since we have this series. We read one book from the set, and one other book. The stories are hilarious, and characters are kind, and friendly. The best part is that the books use simple vocabulary and my daughter for the most part can read them on her own. We also talk about how, and why characters behave certain way and their feelings. After she is done, she feels so accomplished. I already looked up more books from this author. I see huge difference in my daughter's attitude towards reading when she likes the story.
Such an awesome set of books. My 5 and 7 year old love reading these. It’s so nice to have complete set. They are clever stories with cute art that my girls love. When we are having a do-it-yourself reading time they can pick a few books to easily read themselves. And they LIKE it! Even hubby and I enjoy them. They’re funny.
I got two sets and gave one to my youngest daughter’s kindergarten teacher to gavenin her classroom. (Actually, it was my friend’s idea, and we split the cost!). The teacher was SOOOOOOOO happy. She wrote an honest to goodness thank you note saying it was the best gift she had received as a teacher. She does a little reading challenge with her classroom over the summer. Any kid who reads all the E & P books over the summer can come back to her classroom in fall next year and have a party with her. She took picture of kids who met challenge with the complete set. And she lets kids during school year borrow her books during the year. So happy to help her! So happy this complete set is now available.
I’ve orivsbly sold another dozen sets. Posted on FB a picture of my kids with set and everyone was asking where we hit those andvtnat now their kid wants them!
Our first grader just does 'okay' at reading; mostly because of modern day electronic alternatives (that we have learned to carefully ration) and it's attendant lack of need for patience or effort. These books just hook their attention with the stories and keep them amused and reading. Likewise, you can tell there is careful thought put into selection of word difficulty and repeating a certain phrase that contains the new words in a fun and amusing way. This allows them to cement the new words into their memory and build confidence. I time my child in how they pace their reading of these books and the pace is picking up rapidly. While my child has been given the tools to sound words out and rules for pronunciation they never really found it worth the effort to apply them. These books gave them that worth. We finally had 'the moment' where my child actually REALIZED they 'could read'. I was so, so happy and relieved. Now my child is assertive in applying the tools to sound words out instead of being lazy and disinterested and merely guessing based on context. I can't wait for the Pigeon series to come out as well!
I love the elephant and Piggie Books.. I had first got a few random titles for my nephew.. I loved it so so much and so did he.. he was learning to read turn.. but it’s also so much fun to read it out expressively to your 9 month old infant.. she loves the books and laughs so much at the noises and actions.. must buy for all parents!! It arrived in excellent- I must stress on this - EXCELLENT PACKAGING and on time! Love love love!!
my nephew was recently introduced to these books and loves “waiting is not easy.” i starting browsing on here to look for a few because i knew my cousin, a teacher, had asked for a few. i notice this complete set and even forthe original price, it was pretty reasonable because they are hardcovers. i happened to open, finally, an amazon card, sout took off $70, making the books cost about a dollar each, so how could i not order these for meet bug?. he was so excited to flip through all of them. oh, at came with a piggie and elephant bookends!
I bought this on sale for $99, which came out to about $3 and change per book. Totally worth it, because it's been 4 months and my child still insists on reading Elephant and Piggie EVERY night. He has memorized all of them and they just make him laugh. Mo Willems is a genius. We also bought "The Itchy Book" by LeUyen Pham, who is a Mo Willems friend that writes in the same vein.
Found this series at the end of my daughters year of Kindergarten. Dr. Seuss was not something my daughter enjoyed reading even though I picked the easier of the titles. Someone gave us a few Elephant and Piggie books and my daughter really loved reading them. I enjoyed them too, the characters are cute and the stories are creative and funny. I found this set on Amazon and although it seemed a bit pricey I bought a set. I figure I can always resell the used books when she outgrows them in a year or so. Even if we can't or don't resell them, they were so worth the money. We read at least 3 titles every night before bed. We take turns reading the different characters. Best of all she has fun reading even learning to add some emotion and acting into what she is reading... something we would not get out of Dr. Seuss.
Would definitely not hesitate to purchase again. Love these books.
