I bought this used, and I got a crazy good deal. This book is great for adults as well as kids. It doesn't have EVERY dinosaur in it, but it has the important ones. It also has lots of good info, big colorful pictures, and an easy to understand time line of prehistoric events.
Not much to add to the above litany of well-written reviews; I just wanted to add my name to the list of people who bought this book and felt like I paid about $80 less than I should have! A real quality piece (not surprisingly given the DK publishing company's stuff).
I am reading The Encyclopedia Of Dinosaurs And Prehistoric Life. It is very informative. If you want to learn how life evolved from the Cambrien Explosion to the present, then this book is for you. They may have gotten some of their facts wrong. The book mentions quantum evolution. After chatting with Ken Miller from Brown University, I learned that they found another way that life evolved quickly. But it is a good book. Very educational and a pleasant read.
My sons love looking through this book. Full page color images - many of them Computer rendered to give you a better sense of how these dinosaurs would have looked. Entirely biased toward the theory of Evolution and only makes one comment about God as being a possibility of the creator of these animals. Provides nothing in the way of presenting the many inconsistencies with the Evolutionary viewpoint. However, this "picture book" is a great resource for any dino lover!
