Excellent resource for people with BD
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2019
I’ve read a lot of books on bipolar disorder, and none is the great mix of understandable and complete medical info that this guide is. Awesome info about managing various types of bipolar disorder to live a good life. So many books about bipolar disorder seem to focus primarily on how horrible things are for the family (which, I get it, they sure can be) and treat the person with BD as a burden and a curse, ignoring their humanity/experience, and mostly as medication evangelization. This book isn’t like that. It’s written for the person with BD and talks them through the mechanics of the condition, actual research on it, medication possibilities (with REAL info to help one understand and choose options with their pdoc), healthy behaviors (SO important), recognizing triggers, and so forth. It’s a fantastic tool/resource that assumes people with BD are real humans, capable of learning about and participating in the management of their condition. Huge thanks to the author for this valuable guide.
