If you've never watched Dr. Becky on YouTube video, you owe it to yourself to do so. In her warm, calm, and reasonable way, she guides you through what you need to know about losing weight. At first, I thought I didn't need her book because her videos are freely available. Boy, was I wrong! The book is beautifully designed and is a great help to those of us picking our way through the plethora of info out there. No quick fixes are offered here, but rather a sensible guide to helping us understand why the Standard American Diet (SAD) is disastrous for so many of us. Get those carbs down and give intermittent fasting (IF) a try! Not only does she offer the latest research on IF and metabolic syndrome, but she offers workable, doable meal plans and fabulous recipes. This book has become my go-to resource when I'm wanting to brush up on my knowledge of "Now, how does this work" and when I'm wanting to try a different (but not exotic or costly) recipe. You'll want this book in your home library for sure!

This book gave decent information and provides citations for all the studies referenced (thankfully) to double check accuracy. However, the meal plans and calories are designed for someone on only 1400 calories per day. This amount of calories is too few for the majority of people (especially for men with muscle mass). The recipes looked tasty but need to be bumped up in terms of servings/number of calories. She also includes personal anecdotes a bit too frequently throughout including a 3 page story about her husbands IF journey.

Also, the Dr. who wrote the book is not an MD, but a chiropractor. Something to keep in mind while reading.

I found Dr. Becky on YouTube by chance and so glad I did. At 67 and during the pandemic, I have lost quite of bit of abdomen fat without rigorous exercise and feel just fine. The only exercise I've been getting is riding my bike for about 20 to 30 minutes at least 5 days a week (and I mainly do that for my arthritis in my hip). The book so far seen reader friendly. I do the 16:8 fasting and it works for me. Thank you Dr. Becky.

This is a great book on intermittent fasting. It’s clear, concise and very understandable. I think it would be the perfect book for a beginning faster especially. Also, the meal planning is so helpful and the recipes easy and really good! I’ve used Intermittent fasting before, with great results, but during this pandemic, I kind of let myself go. BUT, I bought the book and on January first, I started anew. I prefer Alternate Day Fasting. It just works best for me. I had put on the COVID 15 and I’m already down 4 1/2 lbs. It’s been 8 days! I highly recommend this book and the fasting lifestyle it promotes.

Dr. Becky has a knack for providing highly scientific information in an easy-to-understand manner. This book helped me to understand so much about how our bodies react to the foods we eat, and how to create a better nutrition plan for myself. I have been watching her videos and following a low carb/semi-keto diet for about 3 months now. Even though I have a stubborn metabolism, I am seeing results! I've tried one of the recipes in this book (low carb bread) and am surprisingly impressed! Seriously, I don't usually like to try recipes with unusual ingredients that I'm not as familiar with... this bread is very, very good. I will now try other recipes in this book, as I'm confident they'll be delicious! Hope you give it a try too.

I first found Dr Becky on YouTube and I greatly appreciate her knowledge, practicality, and friendly demeanor. I am brand new to keto but she is one of my go-to's. When I discovered to my surprise that she had a book out I immediately purchased it and I'm so glad I did. This is a wonderful guide, terrific recipes that looks simple to make with nice clean ingredients. I'm looking forward to trying some out. I just got the book last night and have not been able to put it down. This is going to be so helpful. I found that it was relatively easy for me to do 16/8 intermittent fasting, and between that and cutting out sugar and most carbs I'm 5 lb down pretty quickly, and a I'm 61 year old female, so that's highly encouraging. I have dieted for years - at the age of 58 I was not hopeful that i would be able to lose weight - then I found Dr. Becky. Her explanations are in depth yet explained at a level that I can understand and makes sense. Because of this I was able to implement dietary changes and 16:8 intermittent fasting. I have lost a few pounds already and am doing this while eating meals that I enjoy. I have tried a few of the recipes and serve those to my family as well. Looking forward to trying more of the recipes in the future. I would also recommend watching her videos on YouTube.

I watch Dr. Becky Gillespy's YouTube channel, which has helped me so much. She has great recipes that I've tried. She also explains so many aspects of fasting that have helped me. Therefore, I had to buy her book.

This book explains clearly how insulin is affected by what and when you eat, and how that affects your weight, as well. The first few chapters of the book are so informative. The recipes in the later chaptersare really delicious and easy too. I hardly ever have sugar cravings anymore.

I took the book when I went shopping, so that I could buy the healthy ingredients needed to add to my diet. I found everything at WalMart and Sprouts without a problem. Now I can easily whip up Keto Pancakes and many other healthy meals.
