I bought this book for my grandson because I thought the illustrator used animals throughout the book. But it turned out animals aren't throughout. The illustrator used Caucasian looking biblical characters only. You don't see people of color not until the end of the book, which is in the daily prayer section. That's why I looked for a biblical book that had animal characters. It disturbs me that still at this this present time, writers and illustrators either don't know, or afraid to depict the truth through their writings or illustrations. As you have probably guessed by know, I am a person of color, Black to be precise, and so is my grandson. Part of our struggle is, convincing our colorful youths that they are significant to life, even if they don't see themselves in literature, pictures, etc. It was not until my adulthood, that I realized my truthful presence on this earth. I will say this to writers and illustrators; there were events that took place in Egypt, which is in the northern part of Africa, so do your research. Cauasians were not the only people who existed in biblical times. Amen.
