Very Sexy Romance Series for Women
Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2014
I have been reading this series since the first book came out and I just love escaping into the Ikati world with each new installment but I do feel like they are geared towards women, not that that's a bad thing for romance novel. The women (or I should say females) are always strong minded, strong willed characters with opinions and powerful talents of their own. The men or males are supernaturally handsome and powerful, well endowed physically and financially, and completely devoted to the woman they love. Not to mention, the ultimate head of the whole Ikati society is their Queen. Her husband is an Alpha male but she has the final say in all things. And while I admire the author's bold approach to sex scenes she definitely focuses on the woman's side. The men seem to get most of their satisfaction just by making love and bringing pleasure to the woman they love.
Each new story carries on a character and idea from the previous one, so it's easier to follow if you read the others first, especially since there isn't much reminiscing about previous events. In this installment, we get a very action/adventure oriented romance with Eliana showing off her strengths and talents. She is fiercely loyal to those she loves, although not completely fooled by her brother or his snake in the grass right hand man and blindly angry with Demetrius. Demetrius was a more defined character in the second story, where Eliana's character had minimal scenes. If you don't already know Demetrius from the second book all you get from this one is that he is a powerful man who spends a lot of time running around protecting or rescuing Eliana because he loves her even though she doesn't trust him because she has the wrong idea about him.
The ending was actually a little disappointing in the way Eliana made her choices. It's not really her fault, because although she gives him a chance Demetrius refuses to actually explain what happened, so she never gets to show her faith in what he says because he doesn't say it. Also I wanted to know more of what ultimately became of her best friend, Mel.
I did enjoy the story as part of the series and I would recommend it, but I would recommend reading the first two books first in order to fully enjoy it.
