I love this book - Ms. Inkster is very straightforward with her explanations of the exercises and, as someone who needs a place to start in order to get started :), her sample workouts are really helpful! I just ordered a set of bands and I can’t wait to get started. As someone who is not new to strength training but who is now 50 and can’t lift like I did when I was 40 (ouch! Figured that out the hard way), I decided to give resistance bands a try and this is the perfect place to start. I highly recommend this book.
This book is everything I needed to get started working out at home. Every other book you can find on resistance bands, including manuals from the companies that sell them, are old and outdated and don't have popular exercises that everyone is doing now. This book was refreshing and not only gave plenty of exercises for all the major muscles, but showed a simple way to put them together into a program. You can use this information right away. It definitely inspired me to want to use my bands more!
Karina is an extremely reliable, intelligent, respectable voice in the fitness community; she's not just your random "fit pro" taking butt selfies in the gym. This book contains a wide variety of banded movements that are suitable for all fitness levels, and can be scaled up or down based on personal skill levels. I received a free copy of this book since I contributed an excerpt at the end, and I am extremely impressed with what Karina created. If you want to learn how to incorporate bands into your training, or if you travel a lot or train at home, this is the book for you.
I use resistance bands a lot when traveling and with my own clients as well. I absolutely love this book. The instructions are simple but to the point and the pictures illustrate exactly how the exercises should be performed. I also love that it includes a section at the end with sample workouts and a guide on how to create your own resistance band workouts. I highly recommend it!
Travel a lot and want to keep it to carry-on? Resistance bands are your friend and this book is your guide! Great resource to get you thinking about how to change your standard workout to on-the-road (bicep curls without a dumbbell? bands have got you covered) as well as challenging moves you may not have tried before (one-arm plank with a band row will get your attention). Appreciated the intro, too, with why-didn't-I-think-of-that tips like increase your resistance by using two bands at once.
This is an excellent book for learning some nutrition and exercise basics and then a whole heap of resistance band moves! The pictures are a great companion to illustrate each position. I will reference this for years to come =]
