The reader must successfully go down nine levels under the mountain to where the secret academy for magicians is located. There you are to pose as a student and steal the spell book of the Mad Mage in charge. In the introduction you arrive at the entrance to the school and must make your first choice. At other junctures you again choose and either fail or succeed. It was somewhat difficult to go back and try to catch all the possible choices. Seeing that the reader/ main character is not a wizard, you make many stupid choices that do not end well. Strange creatures are introduced and as the reader goes along, they learn a few things that can help achieve a successful outcome. The cursory reader may come to a swift demise. If the reader if very determined, they can read through all the possibilities. Readers in grades 5-7 will enjoy applying their skills to this challenge.
