Great book

I loved this second book about Nina Guerrera. Such a great plot and fascinating look into the Latin culture as well as the workings of our FBI and our guys and gals in blue. I hated to see it end but will definitely be looking for another Maldonado book. Her writing style and talent for keeping my total interest in this busy world is inspiring.

I liked the story and the characters but 😱 the endless text book explanations had me sometimes bored. I hope part 3 is not like that.

Overall a good book and storyline. Focus is on family and I think that's important. There were a few times I thought the writing a little simple minder, like e explaining that 16 was a multiple of 4, but I don't fault the whole storyline for that. I enjoyed it.

I really liked this book; it was just up my alley.

This is the second book after FBI Special Agent Nina Guerrera's first outing in The Cipher and I'm back to reading series in order. I liked the first one but it's taken me almost two years to get around to reading book 2.

Make sure you're strapped in before beginning A Different Dawn!

Someone is murdering families and making the crime scene appear as a homicide-suicide. Once the FBI's Guerrera and the Behavioral unit get involved, it quickly becomes apparent there are several connected murders going back many years.

Chuck in a few red herrings - there's a huge one about a third of the way in - and fine interplay between the core and secondary characters, and A Different Dawn is a quality read.

The pace picks up and we learn Guerrera has a close connection to the case with minor harking back to Book 1.

I thought Book 2 was going to struggle to bring the same level of excitement and enjoyment as the first; I was wrong.

There are some parts where I felt there was too much detail yet and the central plot with the big reveal of Guerrera's role a little stretched, yet overall, this is a great read.

The take down of Clay Forge was epic as she embraced Kent's code word. The two families' relationships : at work and social are blooming in Phoenix for a while thanks to SAC Wong/ Buxton.

Great characters and story line revealing Clay's inhumanity and the intrusiveness of technology on our daily lives. Book#3 is also an amazing Must-Read as this one. Enjoy!!
