How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Another great book by this author. The characters are always great, but the storyline on this one had a few holes. I still didn't see the end result coming in the way that it did, but this one was a bit easier to solve than the books earlier in the series.

Tracey's stories are always good Of course the author saves the surprises and the bad guy till the end which is okay because it makes you try to guess however This book in particular had a lot of repetition in it which kind of got annoying but I plowed through So I'm on to the next Tracey book

Tracy and Dan are the lead characters. But there are many side characters to enjoy also. Detectives are people too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Breezed through this one!

This was a simple read with a very entertaining storyline. The only thing I didn't like was reaching the end. This one was a little different in the fact part of the focus was on the other two detectives Tracy works with. Del and Faz. Del has just lost his niece to a drug overdose. Sick at heart and determined to find the people responsible becomes his main objective for now. He's staying with his sister and her remaining two boys while tracking down leads on his nieces case.

Tracy, meanwhile, is working another homicide. A young black boy was walking home late at night after playing basketball with some other guys. He was excited because his team won and his performance had been outstanding. He couldn't wait to play again. His mother was very strict, making sure he stayed in school, got good grades, and hopefully, would get a scholarship for college. While the young man wants to play ball professionally, he knows it won't happen until he gets that degree. Mama is smart and knows her baby has the talent to go far, his skills are undeniable, but she also knows something could happen along the way. A serious injury and any pro career he dreamed of could be gone. Therefore she's intent on sending him to a good school where he will remain until he's got that degree.

Unfortunately, the young man, on his way home from his game, is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. Tracy is called to the scene and quickly discovers there's more to the story than what meets the eye. The driver of the car just might be connected to the increase in drug use that's been occurring lately. In fact, Tracy's case could potentially be tied to the death of Del's niece.

Once again we delve into the life of Tracy Crosswhite. She and her husband, Dan, are settling into their new home, along with their two dogs and a cat. And the two of them are trying to get pregnant, all to no avail. Dan has already been tested and, according to him, he's "locked and loaded", fully equipped with whatever it takes to make that baby. On the other hand, Tracy is doing her best to cope with the fact they might not be able to have a child. While Dan encourages her not to give up, he also assures her he'd be happy adopting or if she wants to try fertility drugs, he's up for that too.

Then there's Del, grieving for his niece while doing his best to step into his sister's role, taking on responsibility for her two boys until she gets back on her feet. It was easy to empathize with him given the circumstances. It also turned him into a bulldog when it came to searching for the kid who'd sold her the drugs.

All in all, very good read. Would definitely recommend. This book can be read as a standalone but you miss out on watching the characters develop from book to book.

When talking about having a baby, they didn’t want one created in a Petri dish. IVF is very common and no less “your” baby.

I still like reading books featuring Tracey but the author is getting too complacent with his plot line. It doesn't seem to build to a cresendo. The tense sense of danger is melted or diluted. I guess I have 3 more books to go.

I did like this installment, however I didn't love it. In fact, this was my least favourite of the series. The story itself didn't feel big enough to me. It was split between the hit and run case, and the overdose case. The insight into Del's family life was interesting and tragic, however to me felt too long. So much time was dedicated to going to to that side of things that it kept me from fully investing in either part of the story. Then there was the fact that the synopsis made this sound like Tracy was going to have to place her trust in people she might no longer be able to trust. But for half the book she's basically working alone or with near strangers. Trust never really came into it. Basically the synopsis told you half of the plot and then exaggerated the last part to make it seem like Tracy was going to be in serious danger, but that ending felt obvious to me. This entire story felt obvious. No twists or surprising moments. I guess I'm just a little disappointed after the excellent book which came before this one. I hope the next one gets back on track.
