Journey for Closure
Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2019
Clara, the main character, comes across as unfulfilled. A talented pianist in her youth, after an important concert, abandons music entirely and becomes a hard-working, successful attorney. But there is an emptiness in her heart. Without giving too much of the plot away, she travels to Italy and befriends an older man who awakens the creativity in her through his photographs and accompanying realistic stories about them. She decides to search for another Clara, one of his photographic subjects who owned a bakery/cafe he used to frequent. I enjoyed her time with the older man, descriptions of Italy, and the discoveries she makes under his influence. However, I found myself skimming portions of the book and felt the ending was inadequate.
