Great story to prep toddler for surgery
Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2019
My 3 year old was having her tonsils and adenoids removed, so I bought this book to help prepare her for the hospital setting. She was required to stay overnight and had never experienced anything like that before. She is relatively healthy, so other than doctors office checkups and a couple ENT appointments, she hasn’t been around hospitals very much. I started reading this to her at bedtime a few nights/naps before her surgery, and the book went with her to the hospital as well.
I can say as both a nurse and a mother figure, I felt this book did a great job of preparing her for what to expect. She was genuinely intrigued by Franklins story and broken shell. While she didn’t have an injury persay, I explained to her the similarities in her situation, IE her tonsils were kind of broken. This book was simple and engaging, and I am completely satisfied with this purchase.
