Learn the approach to understanding and modifying automotive control systems
Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2019
This is a nice reference book if you are curious about the issues surrounding modifying the electronic controls, and the electronic security issues of your car. Anything in print that attempts to be a how-to publication risks being out of date as soon as the ink is dry. This book takes the approach of illustrating how to learn to think about strategies for documenting, reverse engineering and modifying an automobile’s control systems to better suit the owner’s desires. In this context, hacking mostly refers to making one’s own beneficial modifications her/his own car rather than intruding into the systems other vehicles. There is something to be gained here for the automotive designer and electronically savvy car hobbyist.
