This book had an interesting premise: a judge decides to return a four-year-old adopted boy to his mother and abusive father because the father didn't have the chance to sign the adoption papers. The story provided a backdrop for an exploration of motherly love and sacrifice, faith, and God's interest in our lives. The writing style, however, was not great. The religious themes were addressed in a preachy and heavy handed way. I prefer a lot more subtlety. It was okay but not great.
