How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

4.0 out of 5 starsNot her best, but still a very good story.
Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2016
It was good, but left me a bit frustrated. Not her best book, but still a very good read. I guess I just wanted more.

WARNING.....MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!!!

Jake and Bree literally spent most of the book in just one fight after another. And then just when you finally think that Jake and Bree would quit fighting and start actually loving one another, they would have another fight and would not talk to each other for days. They even fought less than two minutes after having sex. Unbelievable!!! And then just when things were finally getter a bit better, the book ends. No epilogue, no letting the readers know if they ever actually got married.....NOTHING!!! He proposes, and then it ends. Sure, I guess if you want to get tecnical, there was a HEA of sorts, just not my idea of a good HEA. The ending just felt way too rushed.

The story went back and forth between the broken relatioship between Bree & Jake, and her divorced parents, MIck & Megan trying to fix their troubled past---- which was okay----but I wanted more of Jack & Bree's story. I wondered why the author would bring Kevin back from over seas with a new wife in hand one minute, and then completely ignored the whole situation the next.

I did however like the closeness and dynamic's of the O'Brien family. I absolutely loved Abby's twins.

I also thought that about Jack, his sister,Caroline... and his neice,Jenny too. I have three daughters of my own---completely grown with their own teenage horrors of their own---so I could completely relate to Caroline's situation. Boys are easy, but girls???? you're lucky if you survive those teenage years unscathed.

And I loved how Jack, Will, and Mack always had each other to lean on in both the good times, and the bad.

I have read so many of Sherryl Woods books in the past, and this is the first time she's left me frustrated like this. But the fact that she can actually make me feel so strongly tells me she's the great author I've admired for years, otherwise I wouldn't have cared about any of these characters at all, right?

3.0 out of 5 starsAgain…ok
Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2021
Again this is just ok. I have ordered the 3rd one but that will be the last for me. I just can’t see spending 7$ for an electronic book, especially since these are not that intriguing. There is just so much back story in these. The author should concentrate on the here and now in the stories and stop re-explaining every little thing that has happened in the past. The whole ‘mom abandoned us’ thing got old in the first book. Either accept it and move on or don’t but please stop beating a dead horse as they say. That’s a terrible expression but still…

1.0 out of 5 stars Annoying characters

I have read Sherryl Woods books before, and enjoyed them as easy summer reads. However, this book seemed different. While the story line was sweet, Jake, the main guy in the book was one of the most annoying characters I've read in a while. Pretty much the whole book was about a guy who couldnt get over the hurt of his girlfriend leaving 6 years ago. He threw the world's largest pity party. He went around shutting out his friends and family, ignoring their advice and even being rude. Even at the end of the book when she has proven her love, he is STILL letting his life be controlled by fear. The character needed to give up the victim card and man up. He seemed pathetic, and it was almost painful to listen to his whining the whole length of the book.

This book arrived quickly and was stated to be in Very Good condition. It is not. It is well used and worn. The cover is worn and curling, the following page is worn and ripped. It would not call this Very Good condition. Sending it back.

1.0 out of 5 stars UGH!!!!!!!!! READ IT IF YOU ENJOY CONSTANT BICKERING AND ARGUING....
Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2020
Flowers on Main in the 2nd book by Woods on the Chesapeake Shores series and it’s the story of Bree and Jake.

Bree returns back home because her playwriting days are over in Chicago as well as her relationship. She left to become a playwriter and since her last two plays have bombed she’s decided to return to the fold.

Once home, she runs to her younger sister Jess’ rescue because Jess has a flower emergency with a wedding function as the vendor has cancelled last minute. Jess’ opened the Inn at Eagle Point, and Bree has always loved flowers and is a master flower arranger. After her arrangements are a total hit, Jess suggests she should do that for a living.

Bree decides to open a flower shop on Main Street. Little does she know that Jake Collins is now the owner of the only flower wholesaler in the area. Jake and Bree have history as she broke up with him to go to Chicago. Jake is still pretty sore and resentful, but still carries the torch for Bree, and after Bree corners him in his office, he capitulates and agrees to become her supplier.

Flowers on Main continues with the O’Brian clan. I didn’t even finish the book. WAS SO OVER IT – just couldn’t stand the constant arguing and bickering between Jake and Bree – he’s stubborn, rude, condescending and it just DRAGGED on and on. It got old quick and annoying to say the least. Talk about someone carrying on a grudge and being so unforgiving - very aggravating having to go through that for over 3 quarters of the book!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the other revolving relationships, it’s a modern Little House on the Prairie. If you're looking for a series that smacks Hallmark channel – then you are in the right place. For those of you that enjoyed this series - glad you did. Didn't do it for me - not even wasting my time with any others in the series. MEH

Sherryl Woods writes on about a fifth grade level. I can figure out what is going to happen right away.
I have read two books in this series. I don't plan to read anymore.
