I have successfully been on a keto diet for almost a year now and my weight and health have improved in leaps and bounds over the past year. The authors of this book have already won me over with previous publications, but I am always interested in educating myself and learn something new about the topic. In this book, the authors lay out the basics of the keto diet and address a whole array of diseases that can, if not cured, be positively influenced by a keto livestyle. Each disease has a customized approach, applying 6 different principles: lowering Insulin levels with diet, avoiding additives that raise insulin levels, moderate protein intake, eliminate problem medications, add medications that help, and consider appropriate supplementation. The whole approach pivots on regulating insulin levels and really goes into detail with each disease. The recipes at the end of the book are all great.
Reading this book, gave me a lot of new insights, although I am not new to the keto concept. Particularly helpful is the formula for daily protein requirements, differentiated by gender and activity level. Based on this it is also easy to figure out the daily fat requirement. I am sure I will read this book over a few times and do my own research based on the recommendations.
