Great plots, very confusing heroine

I recently discovered this series, and I am burning through them (thank you, Ms. Swank, for writing so many!) The plots are terrific - a great combination of humor and suspense. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is the dichotomy that is the main character, Rose. *spoiler alert* Rose is so admirable when dealing with hardened criminals, tough attorneys, rude customers, etc. But when it comes to men, Rose is hopeless! The despair she describes after the breakup of a THREE MONTH relationship is akin to what I felt after my marriage of FOUR YEARS broke up. Then she immediately (within 3 weeks) is "in love" with another guy. However, she can't seem to grow a backbone when it comes to dealing with the creep who dumped her! If Rose is tough enough to deal with drug dealers and criminal kingpins, she can certainly stand up to Joe and his manipulative ways, or her sister who turns on her at every opportunity! I find myself wanting to scream at her! I keep reading because the plots are great and Neely Kate is a hoot, but PLEASE give Rose some strength to stand up to others in her life!
