How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

5.0 out of 5 starsA must read for all...
Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2019
In Alexa’s shoes, you see the horrible side of what went on in Poland and Germany during WWII from the eyes of one of the, up until now, hardly heard of group, the innocent children. These children were torn from their homes, from their families and thrown into a crazy nightmare, just trying to survive with whatever skills they had developed in those short years of life. It shows how the human spirit, coupled with faith, can survive trials and horrific experiences without becoming incapable of ever loving another human being. It speaks volumes of how children can overcome and ultimately triumph over their horrific circumstances growing up to become loving, giving and incredible adults if giving the opportunity to live through it all. A must read for all.

3.0 out of 5 starsGood story in spite of some writing issues
Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2020
This was a good story that could have been a great story with better writing and editing. The style of largely telling instead of showing inhibited me from getting truly emotionally invested in the story as much as I could have. There were also many errors as mentioned by other reviewers which were distracting. Overall, I would recommend this book in spite of its shortcomings. It is a beautiful story of strong faith, overcoming adversity with a positive attitude, and forgiveness toward those who harm us.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written

While the story being told is heartbreaking and relevant, the writing itself is so bad. The descriptions are so basic and juvenile. The repetitious retelling of events is annoying and unnecessary. I had a hard time finishing this book because the writing is so stilted and basic. There are so many fantastic books out there about the holocaust, but this isn’t one of them.

The sample was the best part of the book. It’s very repetitive and most of the wording seems to be simple and of the high school caliber.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good story but poorly written

Loved the subject and characters but it was much too wordy and the sentence structure was poor. It should have gone through a thorough proofreading before being published.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better

Not a very well written book, character development was really lacking. Unfortunate because the story was captivating, just rudimentary writing style makes it a difficult read.

Great story but the writing needs improvement. There are many grammar errors, which are distracting and detract from the professionalism of the book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Should have been a novella.
Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2021
I have to agree with several other reviews that it is very juvenile writing. There are continuous repetitions of events and inconsistencies that should have been caught during the editing process. I wanted to really love the story as it was based on a true story, but it fell short. If it was edited properly, it would be a good novella.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dry
Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2019
The story, itself, is good, but the writing style is difficult to muddle through. I didn't feel the author's emotions coming through and that made it difficult to connect to the characters. This book has a lot of potential, but needs some work.
