In Alexa’s shoes, you see the horrible side of what went on in Poland and Germany during WWII from the eyes of one of the, up until now, hardly heard of group, the innocent children. These children were torn from their homes, from their families and thrown into a crazy nightmare, just trying to survive with whatever skills they had developed in those short years of life. It shows how the human spirit, coupled with faith, can survive trials and horrific experiences without becoming incapable of ever loving another human being. It speaks volumes of how children can overcome and ultimately triumph over their horrific circumstances growing up to become loving, giving and incredible adults if giving the opportunity to live through it all. A must read for all.

Good story in spite of some writing issues

This was a good story that could have been a great story with better writing and editing. The style of largely telling instead of showing inhibited me from getting truly emotionally invested in the story as much as I could have. There were also many errors as mentioned by other reviewers which were distracting. Overall, I would recommend this book in spite of its shortcomings. It is a beautiful story of strong faith, overcoming adversity with a positive attitude, and forgiveness toward those who harm us.

This is a book I could not put down. It is a true story about a young Polish girl and her fight to stay alive during WWII. She becomes separated from her family. Her father is murdered and she continues to look for her mother years after the war but to no avail. I strongly recommend it

I had the pleasure to have dinner with the author of this book who was such a delight. She gave me and my friend a verbal synopsis of In Alexa’s shoes and we were both hooked. So I ordered the book and got to really feel the life from her grandmother who had gone through so many horrific events but decided to make the best of the situations that she was thrown into. Yes the book had some grammatical errors and was repetitive in details at some points but that didn’t take away from the real life that her grandma lived. With Rochelle being a new writer I believe she’s done an amazing job, especially since she told this story from the memories of what details her grandmother shared with her. 100% would recommend this book and think it’s a beautiful read.

This story was so tough to read in the beginning that I stopped reading it twice but after the third time I decided to keep reading. I'm so thankful I did as it was an incredible story.
