Another Soild Entry in a Great Series

Man-Eater is another solid entry in the Murphy Lawless series. This installment features two new characters. They are basically intel officers and have been giving an assignment to determine who in a village is feeding information to the opposition. The only assistance they have is questionable information from the Sky Dogs and two guides from another tribe. Some of the reactions by the locals puzzle and baffle the main characters. I found the story very engrossing due to the cultural differences from the soldiers from our time period and the locals. These differences were believable and well thought out. One of the protagonists is dealing with issues from his past that could affect the mission. These issues play a role in the story. I found Man-Eater to be great buddy story with many layers to the tale. I enjoyed reading the story and look forward to where the next installment in the series will take the reader.

More a short story than a book.

Dialog is kind of juvenile. Action is all right. Strategy is stupid. I bought three together, wish I hadn't. Obviously a mediocre to regular book cut into chapters and sold separately to accrue more profits. Read Weber and good authors then you can come dump on this kind of stuff as well. A 25 cent read!

Another great additoin to the Murphy's Lawless series.

Take a bunch of out of time soldiers, throw them into an alien world not truly knowing who are friend and who are enemies and you have the basis for the Murphy's Lawless series. Man-Eater continues the overall story arc focusing on two former Military Investigators asked to deal with a group that could be friend or foe. Add in that the lead investigator was on his way home due to bad actions on his part and you have a team that not only is facing outside enemies but internal demons for past screw-ups and actions. The authors create relatable characters capturing or strengths and weaknesses that make us human. But what does being human mean when dealing with aliens that are like us but different? Read man-eater and the other books in this series to find out. Solid 4.5 stars if I could give it that and if it was longer it would be a 5.

More depth, more detail, and a little romance

Warrant Officer Horace Chalmers and his new partner, Sergeant Jackson, are handed the next impossible task in the Murphy's Lawless universe: find an indigenous spy among the loose assembly of maybe-allied / maybe-not folks inhabiting the planet from which Murphy's Lawless are tasked with creating a falllback/supply point / laager should the forward elements of an interplanetary war need one. Who they meet, work with, and are betrayed by -- or have they been? Is it sabotage or misperception? -- draw the story forward fast. It's hard to put this one down.

Cops and nomads

Great cops and spies and alien bugaboos. In the third of the Murphy's Law stories I enjoyed this one almost as much as the second, but then I like the battle scenes the best. Being a retired cop this one was fun, though.
