How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

My daughter is really enjoying this book and i really appreciate that the storys are short enough to not drag on all night but long enough for my 3 year old to enjoy. The pictures are nicely done and 50 storys is a lot, i can see us getting a lot of value out of it. If i had any complaints, it would be that theres a lot of big complicated words in the book that would be hard for a toddler to understand and read. So far what ive been doing is simplifying the words to make to easier for her to follow. Its a small gripe, but it would be nice if she could learn to read more simple words in this book.

Update: after having this book for awhile, it needs to be addressed that many of the storys in this book are just cringe worthy bad. Some of them are morally inappropriate for children speaking of murder, stealing, lying and scamming with no consequences. All of the storys have vocabulary that is overly complex for small children. While i still think its great that they packed so many storys in such a beautiful book and some storys are good or cute, its a shame the quality isn't consistent throughout.

1.0 out of 5 stars I dislike this book with a passion

Some of the stories are cute, the images are ok, and the padded binding beautiful, but many of the stories are horrible - which to me disqualifies the entire book and I wish I could return it. The stories include the Brothers Grimm tales, which are too violent and scary and have no educational value. Some of the stories have downright negative values such as "How the Rhinoceros Got His Skin" which is a story of revenge (is taking revenge after being angry over something petty, a value you want to teach your young child? Not me). Generally speaking, the stories are too long for my 3-year-old, and oftentimes the vocabulary they use is a bit too advanced. I would be happy to return it, if I could.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really nice book and worth the money

My son LOVES the stories in this book. Personally, I was disappointed as the stories have been changed quite a lot and are not really true to the traditional ones I grew up on. Still, it doesn't seem to matter as he loves them and makes me read them every night. Loads of stories, covering almost all the fairy tales I know in one book so I think it's excellent value. Much better than 2 other Ubsourne fairy tales and Hans Christian Andersson books I bought.

3.0 out of 5 stars Language Style May Be Too Complex for Younger Children

The stories are written more for adults than for young children in mind. Many phrases and words used are more appropriate for older children (6+) and adults-- may be too complex for younger kids.

Awesome content and beautiful illustrations! I love sharing stories from my very early childhood with my kids. So many classics that contain a moral and helped shaped my young imagination. Each story is short enough to conveniently read at bedtime with no problem!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the right length for story time

While I don't agree with some of the versions of the stories, the length of them and the pictures more than make up for it. It works exceptionally well for story time before bed.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to add some variety to our bedtime stories and this is perfect. It is a huge collection of classic stories and the illustrations are beautiful. My 4 year old love it and I can see us reading from it for along time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Horrible renditions of classics don’t make up for the beauty of the book
Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2020

I really wanted to love this book. It’s beautiful, well-made, and has tons of classic stories. That’s the only reason it gets two stars. Unfortunately, every story has been so sanitized and “updated“ that there are no longer morals or lessons to learn. The three little pigs: no lesson of “hard work pays off.“ Grasshopper and the ant: the grasshopper mooches off the ant and lives happily ever after. These classic stories and fables were originally designed to teach lessons, lessons that have been completely removed from these iterations of the stories, and turning them into something I don’t want to read my child. Sending it back for something that will provide greater value.
